Zinacantán, Tzotzil community located in the Highlands of Chiapas, is characterized by the cultivation of flowers and their wonderful embroidery.
The group of artisans from Zinacantán Chiapas, is made up of 8 Tzotzil women who make their pieces by weaving canvases on a waist loom and then embroidery them on a pedal machine with the flowers of their region that inspire them so much.
The group is made up of: Rosa Pérez, Julia Pérez, Lucía Hernández, Juana Pérez, Juana de la Torre, María Hernández, Juana Pérez and Catalina Sánchez.
The waist loom consists of two horizontal and parallel strips held by straps, which are placed at the ends of the warp.
The upper strap is fixed to a vertical element, usually to a tree, while the lower one is placed by another strap around the waist of the weaver.
