There are 50 Amuzgas women from Xochistlahuaca, Guerrero. FS has worked with them since February 2012 through the PACMYC financing granted to women. We worked in workshops on product design, customer analysis, trends in fashion and the development of women’s products and accessories. The groups created a catalog of 9 pieces each, and they work to create more pieces with new designs.
The members of the Zacualpan group are: Eloisa Martínez, Silvina Felicitas, Alejandra de la Cruz, Amalia Pantaleón, Dionisia de la Cruz, Catalina Benito, Leticia Solano, Máxima Morales, Virginia Santiago, Reyna Melquiades, Rufina Lorenza, Florentina Coronado, María Sebastiana, Juana Santiago, Victoriana Lorenzo, Felicita Santiago, María Santiago, Patrocinia López, María López, Angelina Teresa, Marcelina Coronado y Porfiria Santiago.
The waist loom consists of two horizontal and parallel strips held by straps, which are placed at the ends of the warp.
The upper strap is fixed to a vertical element, usually to a tree, while the lower one is placed by another strap around the waist of the weaver.
